class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jensen Ackles was born on March 1, 1978, in Dallas, Texas, into the family of actor Alan Ackles. His first encounter with the camera came at age two when he worked as a child model. By four, he was appearing in commercials for Nabisco, RadioShack, and Wal-Mart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In school, he took drama classes and continued modeling\u2014even though it made him a target for teasing. Classmates once printed dozens of his ad photos and plastered them all over the hallways. Undeterred, Jensen pressed on and, at 16, used his earnings to buy his first car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After high school, he planned to study physical therapy at Texas Tech University. His big break came on NBC\u2019s soap opera <strong>Days of Our Lives<\/strong>, where he played Eric Brady from 1997 to 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He won a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Male Newcomer and earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. When Jared Padalecki read for Sam, the producers knew they had the perfect Winchester duo. Off-screen, Jensen and Jared Padalecki forged a close friendship from day one. They travel together, share family dinners, and have even been best men at each other\u2019s weddings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2021, Padalecki was upset to learn via Twitter\u2014rather than from Jensen\u2014that he would not appear in the show\u2019s prequel about John and Mary Winchester. Fans only saw his thick, dark beard during season breaks. The idea sparked when Smallville co-star Justin Hartley stored brewing gear at Jensen\u2019s house during a move.
